Midjourney Web Editor Is Live — No Discord Required
Midjourney has launched a browser-based image editor, ending the platform's years-long requirement to generate images through Discord. The web editor at midjourney.com gives subscribers access to image generation, upscaling, variation controls, and a new inpainting tool — all inside a standard web interface without installing anything or navigating a chat bot. Pricing stays the same: Basic at $10/month, Standard at $30/month, Pro at $60/month, and Mega at $120/month. The editor is rolling out to users with at least 1,000 images generated on their account first, then broadening access. Free trials remain suspended. Who benefits: Existing power users get a dramatically faster workflow — no more threading commands through Discord channels. Creative professionals who avoided Midjourney specifically because of the Discord friction now have a legitimate reason to reconsider. Who gets hurt: nobody, functionally, though users already comfortable with Discord slash commands will need to relearn nothing — both interfaces remain available. The inpainting tool lets users mask and regenerate specific regions of an image, a feature Stable Diffusion and Adobe Firefly users have had for some time. Midjourney is not early here. Bottom line: This is table stakes catch-up, not innovation — but it removes the single biggest barrier that kept casual and professional users away.
What changed
Browser-based web editor launched at midjourney.com with image generation, upscaling, variations, and inpainting. Discord no longer required. Rollout begins with users who have 1,000+ lifetime generations. Pricing unchanged.
Who this affects
Users frustrated by Discord friction benefit immediately. Design professionals and teams who need a clean interface get a usable on-ramp. Early-access gatekeeping by generation count temporarily excludes newer or lighter users.
Our take
Midjourney just removed its most self-imposed obstacle to growth — years late, but better than never.
